STEM in Focus: TY Workshop on Robotics and Coding at St. Columba’s College

At Glow Group, we’re passionate about making STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fun and interactive. Recently, we had the pleasure of delivering a TY Workshop at St. Columba’s College Secondary School in Stranorlar, Donegal. The workshop focused on Robotics and Coding, providing students with a hands-on experience that combined creativity, problem-solving, and technical skills.

Building Robots and Learning Code

In the Robotics and Coding Workshop, students worked in teams to build and programme their own robots. Using high-tech kits, they learned the fundamentals of robotics engineering and computer programming by tackling challenges that required critical thinking and teamwork.

The students explored coding with Block Coding & Python, learning to programme their robots to perform specific tasks. From navigating obstacles to completing simple missions, the robots came to life thanks to the students' coding efforts. This workshop helped students realise how powerful coding can be and how it's used to control technology in the real world.
